Karoo woes
1st September, 2007
It seems a lot of people are having trouble with Karoo lately. Whether it’s because I’m so used to Karoo being slow, or that I just haven’t been on the net much recently, I haven’t actually noticed any problems! Be that as it may, Karoo has become a problem to which there is no easy solution. No other company is willing to invest in such a small market, while Karoo itself seems unable or unwilling to provide enough infrastructure to cope with demand.
It wasn’t always like this. Back in the early days of dialup, Hull was a veritable paradise, with Karoo offering a service where you paid only 5.5p per call – at a time when most other isps charged their calls per minute. Of course, downloading a three megabyte file took an hour (if you were lucky!), but that’s neither here nor there.

Hmmm, I’m sure I heard a rumour that BT were thinking of trying to set up in Hull…I certainly hope they do.
I was thinking. Would it not be worthwhile to actually make complaints, saying we’re paying for a service that we aren’t actually recieving?

I think the BT rumour is something of an urban legend, I’ve been hearing it for years.
Plenty of people *are* making complaints :) See the Karoo User Group
